The Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 have had a great year, but 2026 is shaping up to be even better, especially for those that upgraded to the new console.
Below you can find five games coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 that we’re seriously excited for.
First up is Pokemon Pokopia. This was a weird announcement for The Pokémon Company but an exciting one at that, especially for those waiting for another Animal Crossing game to come out.
In this game you’ll become a Ditto pretending to be a human being, as you create a home in the wilderness suited to a wide variety of Pokémon. Using Ditto’s power to transform you’ll be able to use the powers of various ‘mon to shape the land, water plants, and put together infrastructure, with more and more residents appearing in need of a place to stay.
Advert
While there are some similarities to Animal Crossing I actually think it has more in common with Viva Piñata, which is fine by me, that’s a great game.

Island Life
Next we have Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, one we’ve been waiting years for. One thing I’ve missed about the Nintendo Wii/Wii U era of Nintendo was the Miis, as while they haven’t gone anywhere they’ve taken a step back from most modern Nintendo projects and you can share them with other players like you used to.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is going to change that though as you’ll be able to create a varied selection of Miis, drop them on an island and watch the chaos unfold.
If it’s as unhinged as Tomodachi Life was on the Nintendo 3DS, we’re in for a treat. It’s worth noting that Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream will be playable on the Nintendo Switch as well as the Nintendo Switch 2.
A Bizarre Book
Of course we couldn’t talk about highly-anticipated Nintendo games without mentioning a platformer, so here’s Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
While Mario and Donkey Kong have had their fair share of platformers it’s always a pleasure when another character gets a go, and Yoshi has been due another game for quite some time.
This time around they’ll be filling in the pages of a mysterious book, by interacting with the environment and different creatures to learn more about them and document the findings, all while making their way to the end of the level. With the Super Mario Galaxy Movie coming out next year and also featuring everyone’s favourite green dinosaur, it’s only right that we get another video game about Yoshi too.

Bloodborne 2 (kind of)
On to the game I’m personally most excited about, The Duskbloods by FromSoftware. If you told me a few years ago that the minds behind Dark Souls and Elden RIng would be making a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive I’d have called you crazy, but here we are.
While I’m a little sceptical of it being a multiplayer PvPvE game, I’m still excited to give it a go and the Bloodborne-like artstyle has gathered a lot of attention from fans. It’s going to be an interesting launch day, that’s for sure.
Enter The Survival Horror
Last but not least, Resident Evil Requiem. We’re cheating a bit here as the next Resident Evil game is also launching on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC, I just think it’s cool that it’s launching on Nintendo Switch 2 as well.
The Resident Evil games have slowly but surely been ported over to Nintendo’s consoles over the past few years, so it’s only fitting that players also get access to the next instalment now that the hardware can keep up.
We can’t wait to see how Leon Kennedy’s next survival horror unfolds in our hands (assuming we’re playing it in handheld mode).
There are plenty of other games coming to the Nintendo Switch family of consoles next year, many of which are probably unannounced, though these are the ones we’re most looking forward to for the time being.
