Elden Ring: Nightreign really has become the primary port of call for FromSoftware goodness these days, as the regular updates keep the experience fresh for players who have seen everything the original Elden Ring and Dark Souls has to offer.
As a multiplayer-focused game, the onus really is on the developer to keep adding to the overall package in order to keep players online, so the community stays healthy enough to keep the game alive.
The latest big step in that process was the release of the Forsaken Hollows DLC on 3 December, which brought two additional Nightfarers for players to enjoy, as well as additional bosses, Shifting Earth and a ton of gameplay changes under the hood designed to maintain the game's excellent approach to balancing.
Now, another update is on the way, and whilst it isn't a DLC in its own right, it's a sizeable set of changes that existing players will absolutely want to be aware of.

As first reported by IGN, Elden Ring: Nightreign's Update 1.03.1 is on the way and it's making some key balancing changes, as well as adding some additional content to a Forsaken Hollows DLC that many felt was a little bit lacking in that department.
Those who own the DLC already will immediately notice new targets, landmarks, raid events, and Shifting Earth when playing the genuinely very difficult Deep of Night mode.
Outside of a ton of bug fixes, the developer has also confirmed the following balance changes:
- Increased the Fire, Magic, Lightning, or Holy related curse effects applied to weapons and items that occur in the temples of the Great Hollow Shifting Earth.
- Adjusted the Continuous HP Loss & Continuou powers HP Recovery curse effects that occur in the temples of the Great Hollow Shifting Earth.
- Decreased the attack power of the wolves summoned that appear during the Tricephalos raid event.
- Added a stack count display to the damage negation reduction icon that appears when hitting enemies with level 3 Dart-type items thanks to Scholar’s Bagcraft Skill.
- Shcolar’s Ultimate Art Communion will no longer break when transforming using Executor's Ultimate Art Aspects of the Crucible: Beast.
- Added a near-death animation when reviving with the Power to Balance the World special effect.
- When swapping identical consumables in the Equipment Menu, they will now combine in accordance to their stack limit.
- Added icons and explanations to indicate active effects for some special effects in the status menu.
- When pinning an item, the item rarity color will now be displayed in the You indicated equipment message.
- When engulfed in the Night’s Tide in the Great Hollow Shifting Earth, your character’s feet will now appear to be burning.
- Expanded the range of clues discovered when using a map to reveal hidden clues in the Great Hollow Shifting Earth.
- Added additional types of attacks when fighting the Night Aspect if all Nightfarers present own The Forsaken Hollows DLC.
- You can now remap the Map Display key in the system menu's keyboard/mouse settings.
The update is rolling out for players today, so make sure to patch your game before logging in to get everything updated to the latest version.
