In recent months it would seem as though Elden Ring has been somewhat abandoned by the newer and cooler Elden Ring: Nightreign.
So you can imagine fan’s excitement when FromSoftware appeared out of nowhere with a brand-new update for Elden Ring.
Well, that was until they saw what the update entailed.
Known as Update 1.16.1, this patch for Elden Ring is minor, to say the least. So minor that it includes just two bugs/issues.

One aims to fix a bug which would cause the wrong affinity or status ailment to be applied to certain weapons whilst performing certain actions whilst the other bug would allow players to bypass being blocked by another player across any platform as a result of unauthorised means.
And that’s it.
With Elden Ring being somewhat left behind since the launch of its standalone title Elden Ring: Nightreign back in May of this year, fans were originally happy to see that FromSoftware is still dedicated to updating the base game.
However, with such a small patch and minimal fixes, not to mention a lack of new content, it has left them wanting more.

Nevertheless, Patch 1.16.1 for Elden Ring is now live and will begin downloading as soon as you launch your chosen client.
In the meantime, you may want to check out Elden Ring: Nightreign if you are yet to do so.
The roguelike action RPG by FromSoftware has taken the world by storm as it allows players to team up to take down some of Elden Ring’s most iconic enemies as well as some original appearances.
In his review, our very own Sam Cawley enjoyed his time with Elden Ring: Nightreign.

He wrote: “I did enjoy my time with Elden Ring: Nightreign and I’m looking forward to seeing it grow and flourish with some post-launch updates.
It’s not perfect, and it nowhere near has the level of polish that Elden Ring did, but you can tell it’s not really trying to be what that game was.
It’s a different animal entirely and I can admire FromSoftware for trying something new while still holding onto what’s worked for it in the past.”
