As the name GAMINGbible suggests, this is a site all about video games, so it’s rare that I write to you with a recommendation for a novel.
Today, however, I’m doing just that because it’s not everyday a novel runs a marketing campaign self-proclaiming itself to be “Elden Ring meets Sekiro”.
That’s exactly what Eternity’s Blade has done though, a new fantasy book from author William Collis.
“Eternity's Blade is an action-packed fantasy debut chronicling an assassin's rise to power in a world of immortals,” teases the synopsis.

“In the secluded paradise of the Valley, life is eternal. Guarded by unbreachable mists and ruled by a reclusive Emperor, this floating world of salt and lilies brims with beauty, ritual, and endless rebirth. And then prince Soh'shoro discovers his power to kill.
“Stolen from the courts, trained in martial and magical arts by enigmatic warrior monks, Soh'shoro is reborn as an assassin, ready to defend against the mythical Outside. But echoes of his lost mother and the ethereal allure of a doomed princess lead him on a path to discover the Valley's dark secrets.
“Now, as war dawns, Soh'shoro must decide: Is paradise worth protecting? Or must Eternity itself be ended once and for all?” it concludes.
Eternity’s Blade Draws Inspiration From Japan
Author Collis is reportedly a fan of all things Japanese, so it’s no real surprise that Elden Ring and Sekiro seemingly served as key inspirations according to the book’s marketing campaign.

If you do fancy picking this one up, it’s not a mammoth read.
The hardback edition is listed as having 256 pages, whilst the paperback version seemingly has 288, so the avid readers amongst you will have it polished off in a couple of sittings.
There is also an audiobook version if that’s your preferred method of experiencing books.
Already, Eternity’s Blade has gathered a decent amount of praise.
"A thrilling fantasy set in a unique world. You won't be able to turn the pages fast enough,” said author Cassandra Clare.
I’m a huge fan of Clare’s The Shadowhunter Chronicles, so I’m always interested in what she recommends.
“A unique and spellbinding novel perfectly positioned for the fantasy market! Eternity's Blade is a surefire hit and quite possibly the next Game of Thrones!" Penguin Random House former CEO Peter Olson added.
As for users, one Amazon review reads, “Eternity's Blade is the best original fantasy I have read in the last decade. It's rapidly paced, deliciously quick to finish (only ~250 pages hardcover), and incredibly rewarding. This is going to be my go-to fantasy recommendation for years to come - it's that awesome.”
So if you’re on the lookout for a new read inspired by some of FromSoftware’s very best releases, this may be the book for you.
