New Steam RPG offers the wackiest no-hit gaming run of all time
From witches to vampires, witchers to dragonborn, dragons to hedgehogs, we've had some funky protagonists in the gaming industry.
But few can even hold a candle to what Mortal Shell II can offer.
Dubbed 'Bloodborne meets Dark Souls', and signed off with Geoff Keighley's seal of approval at Summer Games Fest, Mortal Shell II promises a wild ride.
After a positive free taster earlier this month, where initial users hailed it 'absolutely stunning', the action-RPG has launched in full and takes the usual dark fantasy Soulslike theme and gives it a weird, fleshy twist.

"Their Flesh Is Your Weapon. Mortal Shell II is a standalone sequel action-RPG with adrenaline-charged, high-stakes combat. Possess warrior Shells, dethrone false gods, redeem a ravaged world," the Steam description reads.
Yet while it could easily fall into that category of 'good' but 'samey' RPGs - there's an abundance of them cropping up on Steam this year - Mortal Shell II offers something different entirely.
In fact, one feature that allows the possession of other 'shells' means that you can take control of new forms, and it makes for the coolest playthroughs you can imagine.
Mortal Shell II is baa-king mad
Launched on August 20, the first wave of players have entered the strange dark fantasy kingdom that Mortal Shell offers and have got to take down the 'false gods' dotted around the map; it's very much an Elden Ring take on Scooby Doo, with masked demons trying to rule, if it wasn't for you meddling kids and your stupid dog.
Or should I say, sheep.
Yep, as part of the flesh-swapping doppling going on, you can actually assume the body of a sheep and use your hooves to wage war on enemies around the map.
The ewe-tiful skin doesn't offer much in terms of weapon capability (gosh, you can't expect a sheep to hold a sword - how unrealistic!), but you can slap your foes to oblivion.

Of course, this looks more appealing than the core game itself.
Immediately, it's caught the attention of those RPG fanatics who live for 'no hit' runs, giving you the ultimate flex over the game if you can complete the seriously rough combat with nothing but a ram's hoof.
"No hit all bosses sheep run when?," one comment read.
Another added, "Dodge this you BAAAAAAAAA-stard!"
"Fine, I'll buy Mortal Shell 2," a third said.
There are many more forms that the protagonist can take, and doubtless there will be some that players haven't managed to see yet, but it's definitely an awesome take on a very saturated genre.
