New Soulslike RPG is free to try now with 'absolutely stunning' dark fantasy world

Straight out of the Dark Souls locker, a new eerie RPG has launched the plunges players into a deep, mystical world, operating a prophesied fleshy shell of a being whose life is dedicated to saving life from the grasp of abomination - and it's currently free.

In the season of pirates and old-gen shooters while we wait for a winter of unlawful automobile theft, there's a current limbo of ‘what the heck do we play?’

Well, that problem won't last long as the Grand Theft Auto undercard is kicking off with a Soulslike RPG that threatens to knock your socks clean off.

Mortal Shell 2 arrives as the sequel - but doesn't require any prior knowledge - to the favourable 2020 title and is currently throwing up a free trial with exclusive rewards.

Up there among the most anticipated game releases of the month, Mortal Shell 2 is dubbed as a violent dark fantasy Soulslike RPG with adrenaline-charged, high-stakes combat.

“Their Flesh Is Your Weapon. Mortal Shell II is a standalone sequel action-RPG with adrenaline-charged, high-stakes combat. Possess warrior Shells, dethrone false gods, redeem a ravaged world,” the description says.

“The dormant forms of forgotten warriors are scattered throughout Mortal Shell II’s shattered world. Once discovered, each Shell can be awakened and possessed, unlocking their innate strengths and unique abilities.

“Evolve your own style of combat by harnessing the diverse unique abilities of each Shell, and unravel their secrets through the discovery of lost memories.”

Launching in full on August 20, it's now being offered up as a free Beta where you can begin Harbringer’s journey.

Already, players are thoroughly enjoying the experience, with an easy-access difficulty level and a chilling, haunting, beautiful vibe.
