Elden Ring is without question one of the best video games in recent years which should come as no surprise considering that it’s developed by FromSoftware.

Released in February 2022, FromSoftware’s Elden Ring was met with high critical acclaim from the get-go garnering a score of 96 on Metacritic earning the “Must-Play” accolade. In our review of Elden Ring, we said it’s: “a constantly surprising adventure that has taken FromSoftware’s tried-and-tested formula to delirious new heights. One of the best video games of the last decade, and an absolutely essential release, Elden Ring really does confirm that 2022 is off to an incredible start.”

Following months of speculation since the Shadow of the Erdtree announcement in February 2023, almost a year to the date, publisher Bandai Namco finally revealed Shadow of the Erdtree with a gloriously disturbing gameplay trailer sending FromSoftware fans into frenzied excitement across the internet. However, we’ll need to be patient because the highly anticipated expansion doesn't arrive until 21 June 2024.

So, what can we do until that time arrives, I hear you ask. Thankfully, there are plenty of FromSoftware-inspired games to choose from nowadays and one in particular is available to play now with an active PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium subscription at no extra cost. That game is the critically acclaimed Mortal Shell: Enhanced Edition developed by Cold Symmetry.

“Mortal Shell is a ruthless and deep action RPG that tests your sanity and resilience in a shattered world. As the remains of humanity wither and rot, zealous foes fester in the ruins,” reads the description on the PlayStation Store. They spare no mercy, with survival demanding superior awareness, precision, and instincts. Track down hidden sanctums of devout followers and discover your true purpose.”

Mortal Shell was originally released in 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One before its new-gen update arrived the following year. This “Enhanced” version of Mortal Shell can be played at a 4K resolution, up to 60 frames per second and features new and improved ultra high-quality textures over the original version of this game. So you know that you’re going to be playing the best version of Mortal Shell to date and we highly recommend checking it out.

Mortal Shell is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
