FromSoftware revealed Elden Ring's next DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, on social media today and made me run up the stairs to this office and sit on the first available desk which is next to a radiator. I am very warm.

Now, references to a new DLC were present in a build of Elden Ring at the end of January, but, due to the nebulous nature of the name of the branch it was anyone's guess what it would be. Moreover, the developer didn't make any mention of new DLC on its way to the game. Yet we attest that there is Shadow of the Erdtree in the offing with a truly beautiful piece of art to accompany the announcement.

Check out the awesome Elden Ring live action trailer here:

“Rise, Tarnished, and let us walk a new path together. An upcoming expansion for Elden Ring, ‘Shadow of the Erdtree,’ is currently in development. We hope you look forward to new adventures in the Lands Between,” read the press release. There is no specified window for the DLC's launch and given that we've only gotten this artwork and nothing more, it might transpire that the team still has its nose to the grindstone polishing the content.

I say this as the Colosseum DLC came with a full trailer flaunting the duels, free-for-alls and team fights available in the update. Furthermore, we don't know that this one will be free too, though we'd hold out hope. Elden Ring has been a runaway success for the publisher and has created the momentum to "crack the West," said Arnaud Muller, CEO of Bandai Namco Europe.
