Who needs Fallout 3 Remastered, when the OG version of Fallout 3 is still getting “DLC sized” expansions added to it in the year of our lord 2025?
You know, when Bethesda dropped Fallout 4, I was pretty certain that the modding scene for Fallout 3 would pretty much die down entirely.
Most of the modders had already moved over to Fallout: New Vegas by the time that Fallout 4 finally came out, so I kind of assumed that its release would be the final nail in the coffin for the expansive Fallout 3 mod library.
But hey, what do I know? Because several loyal fans are still adding content to the game to this day, even with rumours of a remastered version of Fallout 3 floating on the horizon.

Case in point, Outskirts is a new mod for Fallout 3 from author Helos743 on Nexus Mods that "aims to install urban expansion around the traditionally insular communities of Megaton and Rivet City".
As Helos themselves notes, the mod is currently a work in progress, but their plans for the project sound extremely promising.
For the time being, you can wander around the Outskirts mod and have a gander at what Helos is cooking, but they have a lot of future content in store for the mod once it leaves its “development phase”.
Helos states in the mod description that they’re planning to add "fully voiced and lip syncing NPCs", an expansion for Rivet City's urban area, and a bunch of fully implemented quests that revolve around building new, expanded settlements.

Gotta admit, this all sounds very promising. Here’s hoping that the scope of the project doesn’t get out of hand, because this one seems like it could be the most interesting mod that the Fallout 3 community has seen in years.
