Forget Dark Souls 4, Steam Brain Rot Alternative Surfaces For Soulslike Fans

A unique soulslike experience

It's difficult to overstate just how influential the release of Dark Souls has been for the wider gaming landscape spawning a genre of its own as well as countless releases which have tried to replicate its unique formula.

For whatever reason, a lot of players out there are suckers for punishment and love to log in again and again in order to get murdered by some enormous, cosmic being that has done it to countless characters before now.

Given how saturated the genre is now, game developers need to go further and further in their attempts to stand out, and one game has just appeared on the Steam storefront that does just that and then some.

Dark Farts: Parody Smell Edition is the Soulslike We All Need Right Now

Dark Farts: Parody Smell Edition is set to release in March of this year and it really is a soulslike game like none that we've ever seen before, if the title didn't already give that away in spades.

In the developer’s own words, “EMOTIONAL DAMAGE INCOMING! The most ridiculously epic Souls-like parody ever created meets outrageous humor in this absolutely insane action-RPG!”

“You're no chosen one – just a blacksmith with questionable bean-eating habits who accidentally gained ancient dragon powers. Now, you're humanity's last hope, and it's time to show these evil corporations what REAL power smells like!”

So given the game revolves almost exclusively around farting, the tone is a little less serious than what you might expect from a soulslike, but there does also seem to be some genuinely fun gameplay under the hood.

There are epic scale boss fights to conquer, with a bunch of thematic moves and finishers to make you feel like a powerful being. Those bosses are also very meta, so you could be fighting anything from a tech billionaire to some other absurd villain that deserves a beating.

Dark Farts also features a bunch of fun mechanics that suit the overall “theme,” including the ability to eat bean burritos to take advantage of temporary power ups.

There are also multiple endings for players to track down, so there should be some element of replayability to go along with the game’s existing RPG mechanics.

As mentioned earlier, you don’t have too long to wait if you want to get your hands on the game and enjoy the farty dad jokes it has to offer, with a release set for March 2026.
