If you’re a fan of challenging RPGs such as Elden Ring and Dark Souls, perhaps with a hint of Resident Evil, then you might want to put this promising game on your radar.

Without question, FromSoftware is one of the most popular and best developers in the video game industry. Having been around since the 1990s with King’s Field, the studio perhaps made the biggest name for itself with the arrival of Demon’s Souls in 2009 on the PlayStation 3.

Arguably, two of the biggest franchises by FromSoftware are Dark Souls and Elden Ring.

That being said, we could probably be here all day discussing what’s the best franchise, because we all know that Bloodborne also comes into the acquisition.

What’s the Next Game by FromSoftware?

The next title to arrive courtesy of FromSoftware is the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, The Duskbloods. After watching its trailer, announced in April 2025, it looks like the closest thing we’re getting to Bloodborne 2.

Because let’s face it, it feels like Bloodborne 2 is never going to arrive at this point.

Sadly, as great as what The Duskbloods looks, there will probably be tons of FromSoftware fans who might not ever play it, unless of course, they own a Nintendo Switch 2.

So, what else can we play, if there’s nothing else new on the way, courtesy of FromSoftware, I hear you ask?

Well, one game could be this promising dark fantasy adventure from the indie developer, Matthaios Lappas.

“Trapped in a decaying world ruled by cosmic entities, wield the primordial gauntlet to fight distorted foes. Explore, uncover secrets, and use tainted artefacts. Survive or be consumed by Asthenia,” reads the synopsis of the game in question.

After watching its gameplay trailer, Asthenia looks like it is inspired by the likes of Dark Souls and Elden Ring, and it even has some creatures that somewhat resemble the Molded from Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, kinda.

For some reason, it also gives me vibes of an RPG that might have been released in the 2010s, but I’m not sure why, other than a Dark Souls resemblance. It feels a little comforting, in a weird way.

Sadly, at the time of writing, Asthenia does not have a release date, only a very tentative 2027 launch window.

You can at least add it to your Steam wishlist to be notified of its launch. At the moment, there’s also no mention of a console release.
