Dark Souls fans like myself are going to love this new Steam game coming out this month, and you can try it right now for free too.

I do love a good soulslike, with FromSoftware in particular being the best in the business for games that make you want to tear your own face off with rage but still be down for another attempt at that boss.

FromSoftware has some exciting stuff on the way too like Elden Ring: Nightreign, which is out in just three days, The Duskbloods which is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive we’re still baffled by, and some other secret projects too.

While you wait though, I’d highly recommend checking out Crimson Capes on Steam, as if you like Dark Souls, it's probably your cup of tea.

The game’s Steam description reads as such: "Engage in fluid 2D pixel art swordplay, hunt down witches, fight monsters and experience the age of high adventure. Enter the guild of the Crimson Capes and explore a fantasy world of Sword and Sorcery."

The accompanying gameplay shows the player twisting and twirling in intense sword battles, with combat that looks fast and fluid like The Witcher, but still heavy enough where you have to time your attacks well.

There are also a few monstrous bosses shown off, like a beast that looks a lot like the Cleric Beast from Bloodborne as well as an enormous spider.

It looks interesting, and I’m a big fan of the 2D pixel art style; it feels fresh and not something you tend to see in this genre of game.

While the release date is yet to be announced, you can give the game a go right now, as a demo was launched on 25 May.

I’d recommend giving it a go as it looks like it has potential, and I for one am interested in checking out the full game whenever it drops.
