The Game Awards 2024 aired overnight and brought with it some incredible game reveals that still have us shocked hours on.

Now that the dust has settled a bit, it is safe to say that The Game Awards 2024 was one to remember with games such as The Witcher 4, Borderlands 4 and even a brand-new Naughty Dog IP taking to the stage.

Check out the reveal trailer for Elden Ring: Nightreign below!

However, standing alongside the greats was well… another great.

That’s right, Elden Ring: Nightreign was revealed, much to the shock of fans.

Set to launch some time in 2025, Nightreign is a standalone, multiplayer survival game set in Elden Ring’s Lands Between.

Despite Shadow of the Erdtree releasing earlier this year, it seems as though Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have already been working in secret to bring players yet another epic adventure and this time, they won’t have to go it alone.

As you can imagine, fans were overjoyed that they will get to return to Elden Ring so soon and social media erupted with eagle-eyed fans scrutinising every inch of The Game Awards’ trailer.

That is why some have picked up on some changes to character movement and traversal.

Pointed out by tfwPhoebe over on Twitter, Elden Ring: Nightreign will feature movement mechanics much like those implemented in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, a fellow FromSoftware title released in 2019.

Following a shinobi during Japan’s Sengoku period, Sekiro met critical acclaim upon release, with its fluid movement and combat style being a standout for fans.

Now it seems as though FromSoftware has taken this onboard and implemented it into the upcoming Elden Ring release as one moment in last night’s trailer looked very familiar to Sekiro fans.

“Sekiro movement mechanics in Elden Ring!” tfwPhoebe shared. “I am actually going to cry bro, this is already the greatest game of all time.”

It's reassuring to see that FromSoftware has introduced a fan-loved mechanic to its award-winning RPG.
