GTA 6 co-op story mode gameplay appears online

GTA fans believe that GTA VI might have co-op play, and most are very excited about it. However, others aren't sold on the idea.

It’s been almost six months since that massive GTA VI leak hit the internet, and fans are still dissecting the gameplay footage in order to uncover all the details they can about the game.

Let’s face it, analysing the leaks has basically become a necessity at this point. We’re over a year on from the game’s announcement, and Rockstar Games still hasn’t released a trailer, game title or literally any other morsel of information about it. The only thing we do know is that the September 2022 leak was completely real - the studio confirmed that the early gameplay footage was accessed illegally in a network intrusion.

Take a look at what GTA VI might look like with this GTA V Vice City mod.

The leak seemingly confirmed that the upcoming Grand Theft Auto game will have two protagonists, and as Dexerto reports, fans on Reddit now believe that they might have been looking at co-op footage this whole time.

“From the [footage] I have seen I think GTA VI’s story mode will have co-op mode, here’s how I know,” Reddit user dlovan666 wrote. “When you play as Jason in the club, Lucia’s character doesn’t move like an AI after all, she moves like it’s being controlled by another player, that might also explain the ‘Share inventory’ function in the game.”

Some people are incredibly excited about this prospect: “I am quietly hoping it has co-op. Me and my fiancé love the Rockstar games and playing a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style couple would be a great way for us to enjoy it together, not just sat next to each other playing it separately,” Dr_Spleen_ wrote. “I would love online co-op. Would make the game a lot more fun,” added Rocketmanbun04.

However, some pointed out that the experience might not be so fun if players end up being forced to rely on strangers for certain parts of the game: “I think a online co-op mode is definitely possible, although I'm not sure many people would be interested in it. But, truth be told, I'd have more faith in a Rockstar AI partner [than] any schlub I match with at random,” Trainalf commented.

At the time of writing, it’s not been confirmed by Rockstar Games if the upcoming title really will support co-op play, so don’t get too hyped just yet - a lot can change between early development footage and the final release.
