GTA 6 Gameplay Leaks Have Gamers Losing Their Minds

This story is just as unbelievable as it was the first time I read it

The wait for Grand Theft Auto VI is clearly taking its toll on some of the fanbase, because they’re obsessively rooting through leaked gameplay footage to tide them over.

Grand Theft Auto VI is, by no exaggeration, the most anticipated game of all time.

The pressure on Rockstar Games to deliver everything that fans are expecting from the game must be immense, and that’s likely to be exacerbated by fans rooting through leaked gameplay videos that dropped back in 2022.

In case this news passed you by, it’s a genuinely ridiculous story that’s slightly difficult to sum up, but here’s the basic info.

In September 2022, roughly 90 individual videos leaked online, featuring gameplay footage from Grand Theft Auto VI recorded at several different points in its development.

The hacker behind the footage, which was eventually confirmed to be legitimate by Rockstar Games themselves, was arrested for his role in obtaining the footage… which he obtained by using, and this is not a joke, a modified Amazon Fire TV Stick while he was under police supervision.

Anyway, incredible story aside, fans over on the r/GTA6 subreddit have, once again, discovered said leaked footage, and it’s getting them hyped for the games’ release.

“You know what’s the craziest part? The GTA 6 beta looks better than most open world games”, commented user PolygoneerMusic.

“My understanding is the visual stuff is usually tweaked and improved in the last stretch of development. Those leaks were mostly for testing features and debug. If the visuals looked that good years ago I am excited to see what they look like now”, replied user Electrical_Room5091.

“This is the first Rockstar game developed for SSDs. The old HDDs slowed down loading. Expecting great things.”

Obviously I can’t link you to any of the leaked videos, nor would I want to, but it is unfortunately quite easy to find online.

Here’s hoping the leak didn’t take too much of the wind out of Rockstar Games’ sails, because I know I’m just as excited as ever to get my hands on the game.
