This upcoming Napoleonic, Bloodborne-inspired soulslike looks like it’s already shaping up to be something special, and if you like what you see too, you’ll be happy to hear that it’s set to release on almost every modern platform.
Gamescom had a fair few reveals this year, to the point that some of the more exciting stuff got buried amongst all of the hype around stuff like Resident Evil 9 and Hollow Knight: Silksong.
However, if you’re itching to get ahold of a new soulslike that blends the grim, monstrous battles found in Dark Souls with the historically inaccurate revisions of Assassin’s Creed, then I hope you spotted the trailer for this game right before Opening Night Live truly kicked off.
Valor Mortis is an upcoming first-person souls-like RPG from developer One More Level and publisher Lyrical Games, set to release at some point in 2026.

The story sees you “rise from death as a former soldier of Napoleon’s army” in a bid to cure some kind of mysterious plague that’s sweeping across Europe, and you’re armed with era-appropriate firearms, swords and supernatural abilities that will help you dispatch your former comrades.
The combat definitely looks like it packs a punch in this one, which shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise as developers One More Level worked on both Ghostrunner and its sequel, Ghostrunner II.
If you think this one sounds up your alley, then you’ll be thankful to find out that it’s coming to Steam, PlayStation 5, and both Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.
No exact word on when it will drop in 2026, but perhaps that’s simply because the developers are waiting to find out if Grand Theft Auto VI will be delayed again.

According to those who previewed Valor Mortis at Gamescom, the game already seems like it’s in a great state, so I’d expect to see this one in the first half of 2026.
