Cyberpunk has been a thing for a very long time, but you’d be almost forgiven to believe Cyberpunk 2077 did it first.
CD Projekt RED crafted a beautiful, imposing look at the potential future with a digital world teeming with life and personality.
With a sequel in the works but not due for a very long time, you might be wondering what else is out there in the genre, and while there’s plenty to experience already, there’s still more to come.
Replaced is a great example, and I can’t wait to talk more about it in my upcoming preview from this year’s Gamescom.

Set in a cyberpunk world, it’s about an AI that gets forcefully inserted into a human body. It explores what it’s like to experience life as something that’s never had a chance to live, and mixes gorgeous 2D sprites with 3D assets.
Combat feels like something straight out of Bladerunner, one of the big inspirations for the game, as well as John Wick with some flashy takedowns and gun-fu.
I had a great time playing it at Gamescom and I’m eager to play more, but unfortunately there’s some bad news. Replaced has been delayed to 2026.
The current release date is now projected for spring 2026, though it looks like the delay was decided to give the game a bit more polish rather than extensively overhaul the project.

The latest trailers for the game look great and as I said before, the gameplay I experienced at Gamescom was excellent.
If you’re a fan of Cyberpunk 2077 or the cyberpunk genre in general, Replaced is definitely a game that needs to go on your radar, it’s just a shame we have to wait a little bit longer for it. That said Cyberpunk 2077 was rushed and we all saw how that turned out…
