Originally released way back in 1982, Blade Runner took a rather bleak look at the future of mankind. Following ex-police officer and now ‘blade runner’ Rick Deckard played by Harrison Ford, the movie became a cult success and spawned a universe that is often dipped into for inspiration to this day. Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City owes a lot to the Los Angeles depicted in the movie, for example.

Speaking of games, it looks like we might be getting a Blade Runner title in the not so distant future, if a recent report by a reliable industry insider is anything to go by. The team at 110 Industries have apparently acquired the rights to the franchise and have started development on a video game.

Check out the trailer for the Blade Runner RPG table top game which is apparently in the works.

The last Blade Runner game was a point and click adventure released in 1997 on the PC, with an enhanced edition of that game heading to PC, PS4, PS5 and Switch later this year, so that’s all fine and dandy. But a modern game has so much potential to be amazing.

The report comes from Tom Henderson over on Try Hard Guides who is on the money so often about what’s up and coming in the gaming industry, so it’s worth taking notice of what he has to say on the matter.

Aside from stating that the Switzerland based developer has acquired the license and confirmed as such internally, not much else is known about the project other than a rough 2025 release window, which is obviously subject to change.

If you’ll allow me to daydream for a moment, dear reader, I’d love a Blade Runner game in the style of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter. You’d have to gather intel and then track down the androids who look just like other NPCs in the game to bring them in or take them down. With the capabilities of modern computers it’ll be amazing to see what 110 Industries are able to achieve, though of course, this hasn’t been officially announced yet, so let’s just wait and see what happens, shall we?
