A new upcoming RPG that looks like a mix of God of War and Assassin’s Creed has just received a new extended gameplay trailer.

Blood Message is an RPG combining the role-playing and parkour elements of Assassin’s Creed with the intense combat flavour of games like God of War.

It’s being developed by 24 Entertainment, which is the same developer behind Naraka Bladepoint, the free-to-play battle royale game.

It’ll be the second time the developer teams up with NetEase Games as the publisher too.

I'm really interested in the premise. Set during the Shazhou Uprising that occurred in China in 848, you'll play as a messenger and his son who are both caught in a perilous journey across Asia to see that an important message reaches Chang’an, the capital of the Tang Empire.

I love a Soulslike, but I find they're often drawn to a more fantastical setting. I'm really interested in a more mature, historical RPG with Soulslike elements, like Blood Message.

It’s a single player experience played from a third-person point of view, and the combat involves you defeating enemies while also blended with stealth and survival mechanics.

Blood Message's Gameplay Trailer Gives Us A Taste Of What The Full Game Offers

Announced in 2025, Blood Message doesn’t have a release date yet. However, it’s set to launch for both PC and consoles.

The gameplay trailer, also released last year and can be seen below, runs for five minutes and showcases the premise, setting, and some gameplay mechanics like combat and exploration.

Check it out here!

It certainly looks like Blood Message will be an interesting game, with a rather exciting combat loop and beautiful graphics.

It seems viewers of the trailer are on board with it too.

“This is the kind of game all those AAA studios should've been making instead of live services,” reads one comment underneath the trailer.

“Finally a mature, story driven game conceived to be a historical epic,” reads another comment.

“The industry is saturated with generic soulslike and boss run games that hide behind silly little powers and effects. China has such an old, fascinating and rich history and culture. I look forward to playing this promising epic! Thank you and good luck!”

“I need this game immediately! It looks like perfection. Story-driven games, with puzzle elements and combat scenes are soooo good, and ancient China is such an awesome setting,” reads a third comment underneath the video.

I have to say - I agree! Blood Message doesn’t have a release date yet, but you can read more about it over on the game’s official website.
