2023 is seemingly a good year for horror movie fans, with films like Evil Dead Rise, Scream VI and Insidious: The Red Door having a little something for everyone in terms of spooks and scares.
Now, viewers are praising an upcoming horror, It Lives Inside, which is being produced by the same people behind the fan-favourite, Get Out. The horror flick follows Sam, an Indian-American who essentially disassociates herself from her Indian heritage in favour of being like every other girl she knows. This doesn’t last, as one of her friends gets possessed by a demon from her culture, meaning Sam needs to reconnect with her heritage to find a way to stop it and save her friend.

Megan Suri has been cast as Sam, and many are already praising the film for telling a culturally unique story with a diverse protagonist.

The film was shown off at the SXSW conference earlier this year, and as LADbible reports, it's received a lot of interest and admiration from horror movie fans, many of which expressed their excitement online for the plot and the scares it has in store.
"2023 seems like it’s gonna be a good year for horror," one fan wrote. “What a year for horror already!! The genre is alive and well with no signs of slowing anytime soon," another commented. “That's okay, I didn't want to sleep tonight anyway," added another.
It’s shaping up to be a very special and unique horror flick, as well as a departure from several horror movie tropes.
It Lives Inside will be making its big-screen debut this autumn, though no specific release date has been given yet. Enjoy your restful nights of sleep while you can - it doesn't sound like they'll last.
