Grand Theft Auto VI will be another step up in quality for Rockstar Games after Red Dead Redemption 2, but it could do with the following features to be truly exceptional.
Red Dead Redemption 2 pushed its open-world to the limit and is now hailed as the gold-standard.
So here are 11 features we’d love to see carried over to GTA VI.
Horse riding
The Grand Theft Auto series isn’t short on modes of transport, but it would be fun to ditch the cars, bikes, planes and boats for a while and saddle up again.
Bonus points if you can build a friendship with a horse like you can in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Hog-tying, but modernised
We’re not expecting Jason and Lucia to be any good with a lasso, but being able to retrain NPCs has been a standout feature of the Red Dead Redemption games, mainly for all the wrong reasons.
Advert
At this point Rockstar should just give gamers what they want. The ability to zip-tie unsuspecting Leonida residents for their viral TikTok clips.
Fishing and hunting
This one is practically confirmed already based on leaks and what we’ve seen in the trailers.
Games like Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced have handled it well, by making it a necessary part of the player’s adventure for upgrades and whatnot. It’d also give us reason to explore the wilderness rather than simply drive past it like in Grand Theft Auto V.

The Honor System
Honor is a tricky one as we don’t yet know what Jason and Lucia are like in terms of characters. Arthur Morgan for example was a bad man trying to do good, and players could help with that by keeping his honor high.
Managing two characters’ honor might be a bit much, but we’d still like to see a modernised twist implemented into the game.
Greet/Antagonise
This has got to be the easiest feature to add and it’s probably in the game already. Being able to speak to passing NPCs helped make the world feel a tad more alive and led to some funny encounters.
It also gives you a chance to prevent a fight from happening, which can be useful if you’re not looking to get chased by the Vice City police.
Weight gains
If you didn’t keep Arthur in tip-top shape he’d start to get a little chunky, which isn’t anything new for Rockstar games. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas had this too and you’d need to head down to the gym in order to burn off some calories.
We’re hoping that the same feature will be brought back for GTA VI, as it’d give us another activity to do while exploring Leonida.
Personal hygiene/grooming
Arthur and John Marston’s activities in Red Dead Redemption 2 could leave them pretty grubby, so a bath and shave will have become regular parts of your in-game routine.
We’d love to see something similar in GTA VI, though perhaps toned down ever so slightly. Jason and Lucia’s hair naturally growing longer should definitely be included though.
Bounties
Bounty hunting made a lot of sense in a game about the Wild West, but it still has a place in modern day Grand Theft Auto games if done right.
Jason and Lucia are clearly on the hunt for as much cash as possible, so we’re sure the pair of them would be more than open to a few bounty hunting contracts should there be any available.
Dual-wielding
With mobile gun lockers set to be introduced in GTA VI we’d love to see the option to dual-wield weapons again like in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Perhaps gunsmith repairs and gun oil could return too, but with so many more guns in the sandbox having to maintain them all could get annoying.

At the very least letting us dual-wield pistols, SMGs and some shotguns would be fantastic.
Better hand-to-hand combat
This one also feels like it’s been confirmed since we’ve seen Lucia go to town on a heavy bag, but more fighting styles would be greatly appreciated.
Some environmental takedowns wouldn’t go amiss either, like throwing people into cars for example.
NPCs that remember you
We don’t know how many boroughs are going to be explorable in GTA VI, but it’d be cool if the people that live there recognize you if you’ve done something bad.
There seems to be a greater emphasis on social media in this Grand Theft Auto, so perhaps local news stations will report on your activities and make it harder to show your face in certain areas.
