Reddit users have spotted an incredible GTA VI NPC detail that's so subtle many of us would have missed it, but it's another example of the effort Rockstar Games is putting into its highly anticipated title ahead of its release in just over two weeks.
While Rockstar Games had been around long before 2001's GTA III, it was arguably with 2008's GTA IV that the studio really began taking its immersive, living open worlds to another level.
This was particularly evident in how it made the NPCs of Liberty City feel more realistic than those in most games of the genre at the time. Rockstar continued to evolve its living worlds with 2013's GTA V, but now it looks like GTA VI could be taking things to an entirely new level.
GTA 6 NPCs show off incredibly realistic muscle animations
The specific detail Reddit users have spotted is an NPC going for a simple jog while embracing the Vice City sunshine. The clip comes from the Netflix Extended Look, which premiered on August 27, 2026. Sure, that was some time ago now, but considering how easy this detail is to miss, yet how impressive it is, it's understandable that it's flown under the radar.
âJesus Christ, man,â exclaimed Reddit user Just-Control5981, sharing a close-up of an NPC's calf muscle visibly flexing as she runs in GTA VI.
âYou really only see that in sports games and maybe a few linear games. I don't think an open-world game has ever had detailed muscle flexing like this,â replied CR4ZY_PR0PH3T. âBesides, with the horses in RDR2,â added TecT0nicPleb.

âHow is this s*** possible?â asked TallDarkLoathsome. âCould any developer do this given the time and resources? It just seems like such an insane jump relative to anything weâve seen from anyone else.â
âExactly why I don't mind paying 100 dollars for GTA VI, because I know for sure I won't be disappointed,â declared papi__69.

Red Dead Redemption 2 set a new standard for incredible details
Before GTA V, Rockstar Games went to extraordinary lengths with 2010's Red Dead Redemption to make its believable yet satirical take on the Wild West feel more alive than anything the studio had created before.
This was particularly evident in its horses, which featured highly detailed motion-captured animations and realistic muscle movements.
In 2018's Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar took horse animations to another level, but it wasn't just their movements that impressed.
The game also featured smaller details, such as male horses' balls shrinking in colder temperatures, alongside countless other touches that helped bring its open world to life.

GTA 6 launch trailer hides incredible details players may have missed
When switching between Jason and Lucia in real-time, their character portraits will update depending on the clothes and accessories they're wearing at that moment.
Sweat will also adapt depending on the character's physical activity, whether they're exercising at the gym, getting into a brawl, or simply lounging on the beach and enjoying the glorious sunshine. It's another incredibly small detail, but it's these kinds of touches that will likely make this new iteration of Vice City feel even more immersive.
Jason and Lucia's wristwatches, as another example, will always display the current in-game time.
No doubt, players will spot countless more details in the months and years ahead following the launch of GTA VI this month.
Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
