It’s set to be a major year for renowned developer Rockstar Games as GTA VI is finally due to launch on 19 November.
That is, of course, if it isn’t subject to any further delays as the game is yet to open pre-orders, although that could happen as soon as next month to coincide with Take-Two Interactive’s next earnings call.
Beyond the launch of GTA VI though, speculation is rife as to what Rockstar Games will set its sights on next.

Red Dead Redemption 3 is perhaps the most logical guess, although somewhat of a reboot might be required given that the saga of John and Arthur Morgan has run its course.
Rockstar Games could hop straight into development on GTA VII but that feels unlikely given how many years GTA VI and its inevitable online mode will be milked for.
What you may not be expecting is that Rockstar Games’ next project could be a brand new IP that’s previously leaked online.
Known only as Project Medieval, the project originally leaked several years ago.
As you might have guessed from the name, it was believed to be an open-world game set within the medieval era, bringing it line with competitors like Skyrim, Crimson Desert, and Kingdom Come Deliverance II.
While Rockstar wouldn’t be the first to break into this space in terms of setting, the idea of a medieval-set game featuring Grand Theft Auto’s and Red Dead’s gameplay systems has always been appealing.
Little else was revealed about Project Medieval following that initial leak until last year when Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser confirmed its existence.
“We played around with a knights concept, you know, knights and trying to do a sort of a version of a mythological game," Houser said in an interview with Lex Fridman, referencing the time following Red Dead Redemption 2’s release.
“That could've been fun, and I still love that idea, but we never went very far with it.
“We never got to writing any of it, just did some backstory and played around with a few ideas. But it's something that I thought I'd never do, then I kind of fell in love with it a little bit."
Houser departed Rockstar Games in 2020 so wouldn’t be privy to whether the studio has decided to revisit this idea as GTA VI nears completion.

As much as it’s very possible that Project Medieval could be Rockstar Games’ next project, we can only merely speculate at this point in time.
It’s clear that it’s something fans would want to see though.
“Let’s hope it’s legit. This would be sooooo hype,” wrote one YouTube user commenting on a video referencing the project.
“They’ll cook it so well that it’ll change gaming forever, but it’ll take 84 years,” added another.
“That would be dope. Been hearing about this for years. Hope it's true, love the medieval era,” read one comment.
We’re likely several years off getting confirmation from Rockstar on what’s next, but perhaps this favourable response from fans will sway its focus back towards Project Medieval.
