PC gamers who are burned by the extra long wait for GTA VI may want to check out this new open world rival releasing on Steam and Epic Games Store later this week.
Last year we were impressed by what we saw of Samson, an upcoming open world game that takes a lot of inspiration from franchises like Grand Theft Auto, Driver, and Sleeping Dogs.
Samson got a release date earlier in 2026, and you luckily won’t have to wait long for it to come out.
Liquid Swords will be releasing Samson on 8 April, just two days away. So, if you’re still waiting on GTA VI, and even longer if you play solely on PC, keep an eye on this for now.
Samson is an open world game set in the city of Tyndalston. You play as the titular Samson, a man with a lot of debt which keeps growing by the hour.

Throughout the game, you get into fights, tackle shady jobs, and keep moving in an effort to earn the money to pay back the debt.

Expect a mix of open world driving, on-foot exploration, and lots of fist fights. There isn’t any gun-fighting, with a larger emphasis placed on melee combat. This should hopefully be the key thing that sets it apart from GTA.
The blurb on Samson reads: “Samson comes home to the worst streets of Tyndalston, a place that built him hard and never forgave him. Muscle, speed, and nerve decide who stays upright. Close-quarters fights, tight corners, and no room for hesitation.
“He learned violence before he learned mercy, and the city hasn’t forgotten. Every clash matters. Every hit is meant to break or be broken. You cut through alleys, rooftops, and backroom dens designed to keep you moving, not sightseeing. Tyndalston shapes how you fight, climb, corner, and vanish. It’s familiar ground, but never safe ground.”
Samson will launch for PC on 8 April, and cost $24.99. Console ports have been confirmed, but will not release at the same time as the PC version.
“The game is running on consoles, but we don't have the bandwidth right now to start the final development,” wrote Liquid Swords founder Christofer Sundberg on X (formerly Twitter). “We have to go through the platform holder submissions and all that. Once the game is out on April 8, we'll get cracking on the console versions.”
