Red Dead Redemption 2 Splits Gamers Over GTA 6 Rendering Comparison

The detail is astonishing.

A new Red Dead Redemption 2 video being shared online has got gamers comparing it to GTA 6’s development time.

Last Thursday, Rockstar Games delayed Grand Theft Auto 6 from May 2026 all the way back to 19th November, 2026.

It’s a long delay that is no doubt eating away at the hearts of GTA fans, even if there’s plenty of other stuff to play in the meantime.

If there’s one thing to note about Rockstar, it’s that the company’s attention to detail and focus on quality can often lead to these extended development cycles.

As shared by one fan on X (formerly Twitter) for example, Rockstar featured fully rendered clouds in Red Dead Redemption 2, which is a game where you can’t even fly (outside of that one mission).

It’s a ridiculous amount of detail that seems completely unnecessary, and yet it’s here for whatever reason.

“Still crazy to think that this game released in 2018 on PS4 and most of the games releasing today doesn't have that level of work,” reads a comment from a fan underneath the original tweet.

“Look, I think those 3D rendered clouds are simply another example of Rockstar’s insane attention to detail especially for a game that has barely any flying in it but I doubt they spent all that time and effort just for a single flying mission,” reads another comment.

“The clouds are part of Red Dead Redemption 2 overall visual presentation. You’re exposed to them constantly, so it makes sense they’d want them to look and feel just as detailed as the world below. Now in GTA 6 the ability to actually fly through clouds, I’m sure they’ll be even more dynamic and realistic.”

What kind of details will GTA 6 have?

The same can be said for GTA 6’s development cycle, which is likely going to have just as many weird, hidden details that we barely notice.

GTA 6 fans have already put together a pretty comprehensive document based on the trailers, so it’s safe to say that the game should have the same authenticity when it comes to these details.

According to the document, it appears that details with regards to reflections, lighting, and traversing across different terrain has a likely effect on the way the game behaves, and it looks that extra six months in development may be necessary if Rockstar wants to release it without any major issues.
