Red Dead Redemption 2 Players Urged Not To Miss Valentine's DLC

You only have a limited window to claim some loot

Rockstar Games’ attitude towards Red Dead Online, the online component of Red Dead Redemption 2, continues to baffle me.

Several years ago, Rockstar Games announced that it was ending major content drops, instead focusing on smaller monthly updates - including new in-game offers, bonuses, and items - for the title.

But then Strange Tales of the West emerged in July of last year which was essentially an expansion that arrived out of nowhere.

Given that it was subtitled ‘Vol. 1’, many of us expected that Red Dead Online support might be ramping up again but alas, we’re back to the usual monthly drivel.

Even still, you shouldn’t miss out on this month’s offerings, particularly as the game’s latest DLC includes a nice free item for Valentine’s Day.

Red Dead Online’s Latest Update Includes Some Free Treats You Can Claim

Log in to Red Dead Online between now and 16 February and you’ll secure the pink Cardozo Vest, an “appropriate garment for the celebration of St. Valentine”.

From 17 to 23 February, winning a Featured Series will nab you a “Reward for the West Hill Haven Treasure Map”, while discovering two collectibles between 24 February and 2 March earns an offer of 40% off an Established or Distinguished Collector Role item.

Elsewhere in the update, players can enjoy double RDO$ and XP on Collector Sets sold to Madam Nazar.

There’s also triple XP available for discovering collectibles and triple RDO$ and XP through 2 March for hoarding the most collectibles in Salvage or finding the Condor Egg.

It doesn’t end there. There’s triple RDO$ and XP on the Featured Series which, this week, is the Race Series.

After 16 February, it’ll change to the Team Gun Rush Series, while that’ll be replaced by the Elimination Series come 24 February.

The Nosalida Outfit returns with the update’s patch notes outlining the various missions you’ll need to complete to nab that.

Finally, as always, there’s a new community outfit; this time, it’s inspired by fan Thelastoftes.

You can claim the whole outfit for free from the Wheeler, Rawson & Co. Catalogue.

It includes a Drifter Hat, Neat String Tie, Shotgun Coat, Opulent Vest, Everyday Shirt (Male), Iniesta Shirtwaist (Female), Bandito Pants, and Tasseled Coupar Boots.

It’s, as I said, much of the usual fare but I suppose it’s better than nothing.

What I’d like to know is where this rumoured new-gen upgrade for Red Dead Redemption 2 is.

It really does feel like a case of there being no smoke without fire.

Until that arrives though, we’ll have to settle for the crumbs Red Dead Online throws our way.
