It appears that the next part of Red Dead Redemption 2’s spider trail secret has been solved by players.

In case you missed the news, Red Dead Redemption 2 players uncovered a secret Easter egg last week that has gone unnoticed in the game in the seven years since launch.

According to X (formerly Twitter) user Synth Potato, this secret involves the symbol of a spider appearing on a telegraph pole somewhere on the border between Lemoyne and New Hanover.

By overlaying the symbol onto the in-game Red Dead Redemption 2 map, each ‘leg’ of the spider leads to eight different telegraph poles, each one having a strange spider web and a feather attached that can be shot off.

Heading to the centre of the symbol on the map also reveals a tree with a large spider-web within the branches, which points you north to another telegraph pole, which then reveals a secret message pointing “NW”, which is where the puzzle then came to a dead end.

The Next Stage Of Red Dead Redemption 2's Spider Trail Secret Is Here

However, the next stage of the secret seems to have now been solved. As Synth Potato revealed in a follow-up post, going northwest from the last clue resulted in players ending up at Fort Wallace, found in New Hanover.

Above one of the guard towers, the one with a guitar inside, you’ll find two bird symbols located on the roof tiles which are pointing north.

Heading north from here leads to Wapiti, a Native American Reservation located in the Ambarino territory of Red Dead Redemption 2’s map.

It’s here where the trail goes cold once again, but Synth Potato assures fans that “this has narrowed down a new search area”.

With how attentive and thorough Rockstar fans are, I imagine we’ll unlock the next piece of the puzzle rather quickly. We’ll keep an eye on this story as it develops, and issue updates as and when they occur.

As for what the puzzle could lead to, a lot of fans seem to believe it’ll be some grand answer like an Easter egg for a future DLC or game, judging by some of the comments.

However, I can’t picture it being anything too substantial. I’ll bet some design team at Rockstar got bored and decided to add this to troll players. It’s quite amazing that it’s taken this long before being discovered, though.
