Grand Theft Auto VI has officially been delayed for a second time.
Rockstar Games has taken to social media to reveal that Grand Theft Auto VI will no longer be targeting the release date of 26 May 2026 previously announced by the studio.
In news that is sure to be a major blow to fans, it has been revealed that the highly anticipated title will now launch in November of next year, on 18 November to be exact.
In a message posted to Twitter/X, Rockstar said, "Hi everyone, Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026."

It continued, "We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realise has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve. We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City."

It's an interesting reasoning given that this is essentially what fans were told last time the game was delayed.
Naturally, I don't want to rub salt in the wound, but it's my duty to tell you that this means that Grand Theft Auto VI will be launching six months later than planned.
When you consider that the title was originally due to land in Fall 2025, that means that between the two separate delays, we're now looking at a total delay of around 12 months.
I'm sure, of course, it's for the best; the expectations surrounding Grand Theft Auto VI are through the roof. Rockstar Games certainly isn't going to release something half-baked, and players won't want that either.
This does mean that everyone should perhaps stop expecting pre-orders to open any day now. That's certainly not going to happen this year.
Fans are already sharing their disappointment
You likely won't be surprised when I tell you that fans are already rushing to social media to share their disappointment.
"I'm gonna die at this point before the game ends up releasing," read one tweet.
"My brother in christ it's been 12 years since the last GTA game," added another.
Others offered messages of support: "Every delay = better game."
This delay comes amidst a delicate time for Rockstar Games. The company recently fired 30 to 40 members of staff reportedly based in its Edinburgh office, Rockstar North.
While Rockstar Games has claimed the employees were dismissed for leaking company information, the studio has been accused of illegal "union busting" as the affected employees reportedly belonged to a private union Discord channel.
