GTA 6 first glimpse of gameplay finally dropping this month

The month of August is finally upon us, which means we could be days away from the first official gameplay reveal of Grand Theft Auto VI.

Take-Two Interactive confirmed that the marketing campaign for the next Grand Theft Auto will begin in Summer 2026, so a third trailer is expected soon.

This has been somewhat corroborated by leaker NateTheHate online, though, a decent track record aside, you should take the claims with a pinch of salt.

Nate was asked about the current Grand Theft Auto situation on X and said: Too soon to share anything Rockstar related, but maybe I'll share something when it gets closer.”

They were then asked if another delay was on the cards, to which they replied, “No. GTA6 will arrive in November as planned” before adding, “I expect to see a fair bit of GTA6 next month.”

Again, take it with a pinch of salt as it’s just an unsubstantiated rumour at the time of writing, but it feels like a pretty safe bet to assume we’ll see more of GTA VI later this month.

Some fans have even speculated that we’re in for at least one trailer each month as we head towards the game’s November 19 release date.

August is when Trailer 3 is expected, which will feature some honest-to-God gameplay rather than panning shots of the environment and cutscenes.

Fans hope this will be followed by a reveal trailer in September for the next iteration of GTA: Online, and then one more trailer in October before the game comes out the month after.

Perhaps that’s all wishful thinking, considering what we’ve heard from Rockstar up to now, but even a game as massive as GTA VI needs marketing, so there’s surely plenty left to share.

It really couldn’t come at a better time, either, as fans are already comparable to tinfoil hat conspiracy theorists as they monitor Rockstar Games’ every move. We even saw one fan with a ‘pizza tracker’ that lets them know how much takeout is being delivered near Rockstar’s offices.

What else do we know about GTA 6 so far?

For starters, we know the open-world is going to be the biggest Rockstar has ever created, even bigger than Red Dead Redemption 2.

It’s also said the game will “play best” on the PlayStation 5 as opposed to the Xbox Series X. That’s quite a bold claim considering we’ve hardly seen the game running on either system.

Aside from those two points, Rockstar Games has done a good job of keeping the bulk of GTA VI a mystery. Sure, there have been various leaks regarding in-game activities, but nothing has spoiled the story of Jason and Lucia so far.

After so many years of waiting, you’d hope GTA VI will be worth the wait, and from what we’ve seen up to now, it most certainly is.
