While all eyes are on GTA VI in 2026, and will likely be for the foreseeable future, others aren't fussed about the automotive adventure as they turn their attention to The Elder Scrolls VI.
Much like we've had an agonising wait for the next GTA, Bethesda has kept stringing us along with the various Skyrim rereleases and repackagings.
That's also been punctuated by The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered in 2025, but as we feel like we're becoming a real-life version of Titanic's "It's been 84 years meme," it sometimes seems we're no closer to playing the action-RPG.
There's been a recent buzz of activity surrounding The Elder Scrolls VI, and with it, fans think they've cracked the code of what the upcoming adventure's full title will be. Ironically, it might've been teased by Bethesda's Starfield.
How did Starfield tease The Elder Scrolls VI?
Xbox boss Asha Sharma set tongues wagging when she took to social media to tease The Elder Scrolls VI's title with a series of Xs.

Bethesda drummed up further hype when it replied with the same cryptic titling. As the game's marketing machine rumbles into action, the theories are swirling.
While there are whispers that the next game will be set in Hammerfell, that doesn't fit the title because it's 10 letters, and the only region that’s eight is Cyrodiil.
Cyrodiil is a pretty ugly name, and we don't see that working here, although others have noted that High Rock could work if we're not counting spaces.
Over on The Elder Scrolls VI subreddit, one popular thread points to a seemingly throwaway Easter egg in Starfield where the employee number during character creation is listed as 1905142009140512.
Redditor u/starfieldnovember notes that if you take every two numbers and classify them as a single number (one and nine meaning 19), they seemingly correspond with letters in the alphabet and spell out S-E-N-T-I-N-E-L.
The OP wrote: "This title was at our noses for more than 3 years and we somehow missed it."
As Sentinel is known as the capital of Hammerfell since the Interregnum and the Tiber War, the pieces are fitting together nicely.

The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel theory picks up steam
It's no secret that Starfield was packed with Elder Scrolls Easter eggs, and even though it might seem hard to connect the fantasy backdrop and spacefaring series, you might've spotted the likes of the Best Defence gear store, picked up sweet rolls, or clocked the Adoring Fan.
Given that The Elder Scrolls VI has officially been in active development since June 2018, it's entirely possible that its name was already mapped out and slipped into Starfield ahead of its release in 2023.
It might all be a big coincidence, although the Sentinel name has some pretty big backing from famed Elder Scrolls writer Michael Kirkblade. When someone on Reddit wrote the name, Kirkblade responded with a simple, "Yep."
Before you get hyped up on copium, remember that Kirkblade stopped working for the franchise full-time after The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and won't be back for TES6.
Elsewhere, many cheered the potential Sentinel reveal in Starfield, as another added: "I know Bethesda loves to hide Easter eggs for their next game in the previous one. But if this is real, that’s kinda crazy even for them, and I love it."
Remembering that TES6 was codenamed Project Guardian, the fact that a sentinel is another name for a guardian led others to back it. Another chimed in saying: "How many Bethesda employees have been scrolling this sub snickering to themselves about this exact code? Absolutely hilarious."
Other names like 'Dominion' and 'Remnants' have been floated, but we've got to admit that The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel has a nice ring to it.
