breaking news

The final title for The Elder Scrolls VI has been allegedly leaked online and an official reveal is reportedly due soon.
For years now Bethesda has practically refused to tell its fans what the next game will be officially called. Whatever the name is will reveal what location weāll be exploring after Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim etc.
Now it seems like Bethesda is finally ready to share some good news as The Verge reports a reveal could come as soon as next week.
The name of the next Elder Scrolls game isā¦
According to The Verge the upcoming RPG will be titled The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel.
This fits nicely with some fan theories that were spawned from Starfield. Given that it was Bethesda's newest game at the time and yet The Elder Scrolls VI had been teased years prior many assumed that there'd be some clues to uncover on the next game along.

It would seem the theories were right on the money, as in-game players found what was assumedly a hidden code that spelled out Sentinel. This is a known location in the Elder Scrolls world so it seemed like an obvious tease.
The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel confirms we're heading to Hammerfell
As usual we need to take these rumours with a pinch of salt, as while it seems obvious that Sentinel is our next destination based on what was found in Starfield, until Bethesda says otherwise it's unconfirmed.
Should it be true however, it'd mean we're heading to Hammerfell as Sentinel is its capital city.
The location has a rich history like so many other destinations and quite a varied landscape, which we've already caught a glimpse of in the game's initial reveal teaser.
So when is that official reveal coming? The Verge reckons as early as next week which actually makes a lot of sense. Fans are convinced that the next Elder Scrolls game entered full-on development back in 2024 when Starfield: Shattered Space was released, and based on previous Bethesda development windows that'd place the game's release date somewhere in 2027.
If that's the case a short teaser unveiling the game's name and perhaps a little bit of gameplay should be due before the end of 2026.
Adding further credibility is the Xbox CEO Asha Sharma's visit to Bethesda's offices earlier this year. While Sharma gave little away, the CEO did confirm that a demo for the game was shown off. It won't have been the finished build of course, but it probably wasn't too far off if the game's targeting a 2027 launch.
All we can do now is keep our eyes peeled for that alleged reveal trailer. It'll be a historic day whenever it drops, and we'll be glad to see the back of that 2018 landscape image...
