The Elder Scrolls VI has had new details about its development and setting leaked this week, though take it with a pinch of salt.
Bethesda has been surprisingly forthcoming with information on the next Elder Scrolls game, but with how many press events it had to attend for Fallout Season 2 it’s been a difficult topic to avoid.
Development is gradually moving forward and Bethesda exec Todd Howard has said the team would love to release it much sooner, but they’re committed to making it the best it can possibly be. Howard also suggested the idea of shadow-dropping it like what was done with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, a terrifying prospect.
On to the leak though, some new information on the game is now available through 4chan but like most leaks its credibility needs to be questioned.

The leak says the game’s full title will be The Elder Scrolls VI: Iliac, with an internal name of WhiteBeach.
It also says the game will be set across two regions, Hammerfell and Coastal High Rock, with approximately 11 Major Cities and two fortress cities.
Players will also get to make their own ship apparently, much like how Starfield players could create their own starship. The naval vessels will be vital for exploration and getting across the game’s ocean, though I’d assume fast travel will be a thing.
Much of this syncs up with previous leaks but it deviates when it talks about factions. The leaks suggest you’ll have to choose one main faction and stick with it, with smaller factions existing but not being explicitly joinable, which sounds weird.

Honestly a lot of it sounds plausible but it loses credibility pretty fast when it says the game is scheduled for 2026.
While it’d be great to see The Elder Scrolls VI launch next year you’d expect us to have at least gotten a trailer or some in-game screenshots by now if that were the case.
Bethesda has teased the notion of the game being shadow-dropped of course but as it stands that just feels like the studio having a bit of fun with its fans.
It would also mean the game would be competing with Grand Theft Auto VI which is also due to launch next year provided there are no other delays. If any game could go toe-to-toe with Rockstar Games’ next title it would be The Elder Scrolls VI, but why take the risk when Bethesda could just launch it the year after instead?
