Todd Howard has given us yet another cryptic hint towards The Elder Scrolls VI’s setting, and we don’t really know what to make of it.
Bethesda remains tight-lipped surrounding new details on The Elder Scrolls VI, and nearly eight years on from its initial reveal, it seems we’re still no closer to seeing the game become a reality.
On the plus side, it seems Bethesda is being a little more open with discussing the game now, and it may even be building up to a full reveal.
Now, it seems Todd Howard has revealed a new big fact about The Elder Scrolls VI’s setting, seemingly one of the only hard pieces of information we’ve received so far.

YouTuber Any Austin, whose content primarily consists of unique approaches to analysing logistics and infrastructure of video game worlds, recently uploaded a video posing the age-old question: how many trees are there in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim?
Any Austin set out to answer this question by walking around the entire map without using mods or wikis, “running real statistical surveys, and then checking the game files”. The number he eventually landed on was 46,430 trees.
Before he reached this conclusion though, he asked other content creators to submit their own guesses as part of a small competition. He even got Todd Howard himself to hazard a guess.
Todd Howard Says There Are More Trees In The Elder Scrolls VI
“How many trees are in Skyrim? I don’t know,” Howard says in his video message to Any Austin. “I could go look it up of course, but I’m going to guess 111,111.”
While not true, Howard’s guess is clearly a reference to the fact that Skyrim was released on 11 November, 2011.
Following this guess, Howard was asked if there were going to be more trees in The Elder Scrolls VI than in Skyrim, or less. His answer was more.
This could hint at The Elder Scrolls VI taking place in a forest-heavy region of Tamriel. It was originally assumed by fans that The Elder Scrolls VI would take place in High Rock and Hammerfell.

A more recent rumour from earlier this month has suggested that Valenwood could be the setting for The Elder Scrolls VI. And if you’re an Elder Scrolls nerd like me, you’ll know that Valenwood has a massive amount of forests.
Could this new hint by Todd Howard suggest that we’ll be heading to Valenwood for the next Elder Scrolls game? It’s certainly possible. This has been the biggest hint the game has received so far.
