GTA 6 lands on November 19, and the last thing you want once you've finally got your copy is a TV that can't keep up.

Older sets without VRR, a 120Hz refresh rate or HDMI 2.1 might not have what it takes to do Vice City justice.

With Prime Day running right now, it's a genuinely good moment to sort your whole setup, not just the screen.

For most people getting ready for GTA 6 in November, it might be time to consider upgrading to a Playstation 5 if you haven't already to get the best gaming experience. The standard PS5 Slim bundle deals are usually the most sensible buy, but the Pro model does have a discount, however don't expect a console-only deal to blow you away this year.

Should you finally upgrade to PS5?

If you've been holding off on getting a PS5 in time for GTA 6, here's the honest version of events: Sony raised PS5 prices across the board back in April, citing "continued pressures in the global economic landscape," meaning the console itself hasn't been given the blockbuster Prime Day discount we were hoping for. However, if you've already got a PS5 and you're eyeing the Pro model instead, it has been reduced by £74.99, any discount is better than no discount.

Improve the viewing experience with a QLED TV

If you want to go straight for QLED, the Sony BRAVIA XR8B is on sale for Prime Day. The 55-inch model has dropped 27 percent to a record-low price, with a 4.7 out of 5 star rating on Amazon, genuinely hard to find fault with for the money. It sits as a slightly more affordable version of Sony's Bravia 8 lineup, missing only the XR Contrast Booster feature found on the pricier XR8 series, while keeping the rest of the hardware specs the same, for most people, that's a difference you'd struggle to notice day to day.

QLED gives you true blacks and per-pixel contrast that no backlit LED TV can match, and Sony's processing makes everything look better than the spec sheet alone suggests. For a game built around neon-soaked nights and dramatic lighting shifts like GTA 6, that's exactly the kind of picture quality worth paying for.

Improve your controller:

Once the TV's sorted, don't overlook what's in your hands. If you've been gaming on a standard pad for years, there is an alternative option like the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro in camo which currently has 10 per cent off, it feels great in your hands, thanks to its rubberised texture for added grip and its adjustable weight. It has Hall Effect modules, which not only make the analogue sticks a bit more precise but also drastically reduce the chances of stick drift. The PlayStation DualSense Chrome collection is available to pre-order too but it's not currently discounted, all genuinely useful, though, for the kind of long open-world sessions GTA 6 is going to demand.

Elevate the listening experience with a gaming headset:

A big, story-driven world like Vice City deserves audio that does it justice. The Razer BlackShark V3 X HyperSpeed is a solid, affordable wireless pick if you want to ditch the cable, while the Razer Huntsman V3 Pro Mini and a properly responsive keyboard setup are more for PC players planning to mod or stream their playthroughs.

Invest in storage

Over the last couple of years, games have rapidly advanced, from more detailed graphics to the use of AI.

In fact, common titles such as Call of Duty, Red Dead Redemption 2, and GTA 6, often exceed a whopping 150GB - but our storage hasn't had a chance to catch up. Prime Day offers a great opportunity to prepare for extra processing speed to enjoy your game play seamlessly.

When is Prime Day 2026?

Amazon Prime Day 2026 is currently happening in across the US and UK sites, from June 23-26, making it a four-day shopping event packed with discounts across all categories on the site, including tech, fashion, beauty, home, household essentials, gaming and much more.

This is an upgrade to the usual two-day event that’s been held in July in previous years.
