After missing it at this year’s Summer Game Fest, GAMINGbible's Sam Cawley has finally played the new Godzilla game, and just like that, balance has been restored to the universe.
This classic arena fighter was the bee’s knees back on the OG Xbox and Nintendo GameCube, but its licensed characters led many to believe it’d never see the light of day again.
Thank God we were wrong, though. Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Remastered is the monster-mash you fondly remember with some quality-of-life improvements to boot.
I took the game’s Adventure Mode for a spin before having a one-on-one with the Atari representative showing me the game.

Visually, the game looks great. The maps have been expanded so there’s more space to stomp around, and the destruction has been overhauled, meaning the lasting effects of your destructive rampage feel as satisfying as ever.
Unlike other fighting games like Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, there are no overly complicated combos to learn. Godzilla and co. can get the job done by simply wailing on each other, lobbing buildings, or unleashing devastating special moves (Mecha Godzilla feels especially busted with how many ranged attacks he has).

Somewhat disappointingly, however, there are no new additions to the game’s roster. That said, I was informed that new characters aren’t out of the question depending on how well the game performs, nor would a new game entirely.
Potential DLC aside, though, what you’ll be getting with the Destroy All Monsters remaster is quality. Pipeworks Studios were responsible for the original game, and they’ve returned for the remaster, working closely with Toho to ensure an authentic re-release fans can enjoy.
They can do so in either two-player battles online or four-player battles on local hardware. While there are still plenty of games offering the couch co-op experience, it does feel like a dying genre compared to the good-old days, so I was glad to see Pipeworks lean more towards local than online here.
Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Remastered is set on that November launch date
Addressing the thermo-nuclear lizard in the room…Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Remastered launches on November 3, 2026, around two weeks before Grand Theft Auto VI.
The memes surrounding this confrontation have been entertaining, but there’s nothing funny about this. Call it a hot take, but I’d rather play the new Godzilla game all month than GTA VI.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a Grand Theft Auto enjoyer and the GTA VI Extended Look on Netflix was fantastic, but it only confirmed what we all knew already…it’s another GTA game…
Its November 17 launch is going to be historic, but so will this new Godzilla game. The Godzilla IP is bigger than ever thanks to the Legendary films and Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One, and like I said before, no one ever expected one of the long-gone video games to ever make a return.
That’s Godzilla, though; the impossible personified. A stark reminder that the natural order will always persevere to some degree, so if any game was going to grab my attention this coming November, it’s that.
Don’t even get me started on Barbie Rewind…
Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 on November 3.
