Grand Theft Auto VI finally launches on November 19, but its big day may just be overshadowed by something bigger. A PlayStation 4 launch we didn’t see coming.
Following yet another trademark surprise reveal Rockstar Games announced on June 18 that pre-orders for GTA VI will go live on June 25. You’ll be able to pre-order it for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S but not PC as the port hasn’t been announced yet.
This essentially confirms that the game will indeed be launching on November 19 so it’s unlikely we’ll see another delay.
The aura surrounding Rockstar Games’ next AAA masterpiece is so great that other studios are outright refusing to launch their latest games in November for fear of competing with GTA VI.
As you may have already seen, though, the Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee remaster is challenging the new open-world game head-on, as is a retro Barbie game collection.

And the Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Remastered is doing much more than competing with the biggest game of the decade, it’s also keeping the PlayStation 4 alive.

When it was first announced around Summer Game Fest 2026, the Godzilla fighting game was confirmed to be launching on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 and of course PC.
YouTube channel DangerVille later claimed the game will also be launching on the PlayStation 4 despite Sony’s best efforts to bury its last-gen console. Those claims have now been confirmed by Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Remastered’s publisher Atari. It’ll also be playable on the Xbox One but not the OG Nintendo Switch
So the King of the Monsters is keeping last-gen consoles alive while simultaneously putting his dukes up against the next Grand Theft Auto game, in a month where no other developers/publishers want to exist.

All jokes aside, Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Remastered likely won’t dethrone GTA VI as November 2026’s best-performing game, but it would be hysterical if it somehow pulled it off.
It’s also great to see the PlayStation 4 still getting support in the year of our Lord 2026, especially when Sony is doing everything in its power to push upgrades onto gamers.
Upgrading isn’t a bad thing and it’s the only way you’re going to be playing GTA VI if you don’t own a new-gen console already, but that shiny new hardware is expensive and in this economy it’s understandable if people don’t want to invest in another box filled with wires.
Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Remastered launches on November 3, 2026, and will have a couple of weeks to plant its feet and brace itself for GTA VI’s arrival. We’re not worried, though, because if anything can topple a giant like GTA, it’s Godzilla.
