Grand Theft Auto IV is the atomic bomb that will erupt the gaming industry, with every developer fleeing the blast radius.
Games have been pushed back as far as deep into 2027, or thrust forward into a stacked September that almost looks as bad as going up against GTA VI head-on.
It's a fight that has already thwarted the plans of AAA titles like Fable.
But one unlikely rival for the game of the decade has decided to capitalise on the wasteland that is now November, in the hope that there's still a little bit of room to survive.

Barbie Rewind, a collection of 16 classic titles from your favourite glamourpuss, is launching in November, unwavering in the face of the gaming equivalent of Oppenheimer's creation.
Serving as the diva version of Super Mario 3D All Stars, Barbie Rewind is a new collection of timeless classics that will bring games from 1991 to 2007, spruced up for current-gen consoles.
The 16-game portfolio is spearheaded by a never-before-released Barbie: Vacation Adventure, which will be getting its debut after sitting in the archives for 20 years.
Pet Rescue, Horse Adventures, Blue Ribbon Race, and three evolutions of DreamHouse are just a few of the games that will provide Barbie fans with endless hours of joy.
The collection also includes a digital 'Lookbook', which flips through the history of the famed heroine's adventures, looking at the sassy evolution of the DreamHouse and love stories with Ken and friends.
Re-released for Steam, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series S|X, it's the perfect pastime for a cosy, nostalgic evening.

When you think about GTA 6, there are fewer titles that you could say are considered to be opposites than a dress-up DreamHouse simulator populated by blonde dolls and pink minidresses.
So, while indie devs have all decided that November is still too dangerous to drop their hard work into, Barbie Rewind really doesn't compete in any way with the Rockstar Games monster.
It could actually be a stroke of genius to slip into a very uncompetitive month for like-minded games.
Only one other game has been pencilled in for release in November, as Barbie joined Godzilla as an unlikely candidate to take on the biggest game release of all time.
Who knows, a game of this magnitude could cause another GTA 6 delay, which wouldn't be too surprising given recent events.
