Grand Theft Auto VI remains on track to launch on 19 November and precisely no one wants to go head-to-head with it.
Well, that is apart from Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered and Barbie Rewind.
It’s usually a busy month in the gaming calendar, with major AAA releases hoping to capture the attention of the media just before The Game Awards nomination deadline.
This year though, September is shaping up to be where it’s at.

While October is a busy month too, many major upcoming releases have confirmed September release dates with the goal being to stay well clear of GTA VI’s launch and its pre-release marketing.
The only problem is that these September titles now have tons of competition given that this is the busiest possible month we’ve seen in years.
With huge games releasing every few days, gamers certainly aren’t going to be able to financially keep up.
Here are all of the titles vying for your attention in September, if they don’t do the wise thing and delay to an alternate window.
The month gets underway with two very different titles.
Orbitals is an animated co-op adventure from Shapefarm that’s exclusively releasing on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Inspired by 80s and 90s cartoons, players step into the shoes of Maki and Omura who are trying to escape their crumbling space station home. It’s perfect for Split Fiction fans.
The Witcher fans, however, might want to pick up The Blood of Dawnwalker. Developer Rebel Wolves comprises of former CD Projekt RED staff.

This vampiric RPG is set to mark the start of a franchise set throughout various different historical periods. This first outing charts the origin story of daywalker Coen in the 14th century.
The title is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
If you’re a fan of the classic horror Halloween, IllFonic’s video game adaptation arrives later this year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
In this sandbox title, you’ll either play as the killer Michael Myers or as an innocent victim fighting for their life. It’s one for Dead by Daylight fans.
Insomniac Games returns with Marvel’s Wolverine, somewhat of a loose spin-off of the Marvel’s Spider-Man series.

This one’s a PlayStation 5 exclusive. While gamers should expect a similar formula to that which features in the Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise, Marvel’s Wolverine promises to be bloodier and more mature.
JRPG fans have Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave to look forward to in September.
In this latest entry, the story focuses on the Dagdan Empire’s Heroic Games. Fighters from across the land gather to participate with central character Cai determined to win to save his imprisoned father.
Alternatively, you could pick up Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV which is only due to land on PC for now.
This marks the return of the classic real-time strategy series which sees players take command of the Warhammer franchise’s various factions.
This time, that includes the Adeptus Mechanicus in their series debut.
This could well be the busiest day of the month.
Remedy’s long-awaited follow-up to Control, Control Resonant, lands on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
It follows Dylan Faden, a parautilitarian, who faces off against an invasion of hostile entities while trying to rescue his lost sister in a warped Manhatten.

Silent Hill: Townfall lands on the same day from Konami with this one coming to PlayStation 5 and PC only.
In typical Silent Hill fashion, the synopsis is very vague, but we know that the series is taking us to Scotland with protagonist Simon Ordell waking up in a town he has no connection to.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword charges onto PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC towards the end of the month.
The classic samurai action series returns as Miyamoto Musashi is granted demonic powers by the Oni Gauntlet.

He must use these powers to put a stop to Genma, a new supernatural threat plaguing 17th-century Kyoto.
Six years after its predecessor landed, Minecraft Dungeons II rounds us out at the end of the month.
Coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, the sequel follows a group of heroes fending off yet more polygonal threats in a series of caves.
These are only the month’s major releases. There’s also Valheim’s 1.0 launch on 9 September, as well as the arrivals of Screenbound on 10 September and Hot Wheels: Infinite Rush on 24 September.
