Star Wars fans are roasting the age gap between Padmé and Anakin.

Aside from telling epic tales of good vs evil, the Star Wars universe is not short of its love stories, such as Han Solo and Princess Leia Organa, Hera and Kanan, and C-3PO and R2-D2, to name a few.

Ok, I can’t officially confirm C-3PO and R2-D2, but if they announced a romantic relationship today, while I’m not sure how exactly that would work or who would be the boss of that partnership, I don’t think any of us would be surprised.

Another romantic relationship in Star Wars is Anakin Skywalker and Queen Padmé Amidala. Granted, that relationship went a bit pear-shaped once Anakin began being corrupted by Emperor Palpatine, but they’re love was real and ultimately, it would be the demise of “the chosen one.”

Both Anakin and Padmé were introduced in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, and both were very young. However, Anakin appeared to be much younger than Padmé.

“When we first saw Padme, Anakin was barely pushing 11. How much older is she?” asked Redditor emo_bassist. “I feel like this is overlooked since I just realised myself.”

“Padmé was 14 and Anakin was nine,” answered goddamnitmf, referring to Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.

SpyingChris elaborated further by adding that Padmé was 24 and Anakin was 19 in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, when they got together. By the time we got to Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, they were 27 and 22, respectively.

To be fair, I think we can all agree that nothing was going on between Padmé and Anakin in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, other than being good friends.

By the time we got to Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, the couple were together, and who can blame a 19-year-old falling for a pretty Princess a few years older than he?

You can watch the entire Star Wars saga right now on Disney Plus.
