A new Star Wars prequel centred around the character of Han Solo has got fans quietly optimistic.

In case you missed the news, Marvel Comics is publishing a new limited-run Star Wars comic series centred around Han Solo.

As the title implies, Hunt for the Falcon features Han and Chewie as they search for the Millennium Falcon after it was stolen by Gannis Ducain.

The five-part series will feature fan favourite characters Han Solo and Chewbacca, with Lando Calrissian and Ducain also returning.

Now, new covers for Hunt for the Falcon #1 have been released, which reveal a little more to expect from the first issue.

In particular, one cover shows Chewbacca having been in a battle against a spider-like creature, possibly the same species as the ones that appeared in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Another cover shows Han racing in a speeder, while a third cover shows him and C-3PO escaping droid gunfire.

“In the time before The Force Awakens, where is the Millennium Falcon?!” reads the first issue’s official description. “Less than satisfied with a settled life, Han Solo lands on the idea of reclaiming the Falcon and returning to a life of adventure. The problem is, he can't find it.

“After enlisting a less than enthusiastic Chewbacca, the duo embarks upon a quest to reclaim the greatest ship in the galaxy. Standing in their way are a laundry list of rogues who have staked a claim to the Millennium Falcon as well, like the villainous scoundrel who stole the Falcon, Ducain.”

“Oh this could be cool,” wrote one comment on the Star Wars Comics Reddit page.

“I wonder if this is gonna tell the story of what Han and Chewie were doing right before they appear in The Force Awakens,” writes another user. Considering The Force Awakens is when they get the Falcon back, I bet it will tie into that somehow.

The fact that Han also resembles the older version of the character as he appeared in The Force Awakens also lends itself well to that theory.

Star Wars: Hunt for the Falcon #1 will go on sale on 3rd September, 2025.
