Marvel’s next Spider-Man project is an animated series, starring a brand-new actor for the webslinger.

While Tom Holland, whether you like it or not, is the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s main Spider-Man, the multiverse allows for other interpretations of the character, leading us to Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man, previously known as Spider-Man Freshman Year.

Check out the trailer for the next major Marvel film, Captain America: Brave New World, below

Thanks to D23 and its sneak peeks at upcoming Disney projects, we’ve had our first look at the upcoming animated series, which will once again tell Spidey’s origins but with a few twists on what we’ve seen already.

According to those who witnessed the trailer, in this reality, Peter Parker gets his powers from a spider bite shortly after Doctor Strange and a symbiote explode through a portal nearby.

Hudson James, who voiced the wallcrawler in the What If?.. series will reprise his role, and will be joined by Colman Domingo, who’ll voice Norman Osborne and a close friend of Peter/Spidey.

The show’s creators have promised the upcoming animated series will be “a journey unlike we’ve ever seen” for the character.

Also set to make appearances in the series will be Daredevil, voiced by Charlie Cox from the live-action Netflix series and soon-to-be Daredevil: Born Again, as well as Iron Man, though it’s doubtful Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to lend his voice.

Other animated projects shown off at D23 included the next two seasons of X-Men ‘97, another series of What If?.. and the Marvel Zombies special series, an R-rated project spawned from the success of the What If?.. episode.

Fans were also treated to glimpses of live-action projects, like Ironheart, Fantastic Four: First Steps and, the one I’m most excited about, Daredevil: Born Again.

There’s a lot to look forward to over the next few years, especially if you’re a street-level superhero fan like me.
