Marvel officially replaces Doctor Strange with the last person we expected

We’re all DOOMED!

It’s always talk of the town when big news is announced at San Diego Comic-Com especially when it comes to the Marvel universe.

Following the allegations of assault against Jonathan Majors, for which he was later sentenced, Marvel and Disney not only set plans in motion to replace the actor but Kang the Conqueror would also be replaced as the MCU’s big villain following in the footsteps of Thanos.

Recent rumours claimed that Robert Downey Jr. who played Tony Stark aka Iron Man in the MCU would claim a new role as Victor Von Doom, otherwise known as Doctor Doom in the upcoming Fantastic Four: First Steps, a property no longer in the hands of 20th Century Fox.

At San Diego Comic-Con last weekend, those rumours were confirmed to be true with Robert Downey Jr. officially being announced as Doctor Doom. Whether this new role will prove to be a success or an act of desperation for the MCU which has come under heavy criticism from fans recently for lacking that magical spark, remains to be seen.

That being said, as reported by Comicbook.com, there’s also other big Doctor Doom news outside of the MCU and it’s regarding the ye-olde traditional comic books following the finale issue of Blood Hunt. Just a heads up, I am about to venture into Blood Hunt finale spoilers, so consider this to be your warning.

Following the events of Blood Hunt, Doctor Strange is no longer the Sorcerer Supreme, that honour now belongs to the sinister Doctor Doom.

In the upcoming events of The 8 Deaths of Spider-Man comic book series, Doctor Strange gifts Peter Parker with a magically powered suit and eight lives in the hope that he will be able to conquer the now seriously OP Doctor Doom.

The 8 Deaths of Spider-Man story is set to begin in issue 61 of The Amazing Spider-Man which is planned to be released in November this year.

Fantastic Four: First Steps is currently scheduled to be released in cinemas in July 2025. Avengers: Doomsday (which replaces Avengers: The Kang Dynasty) is scheduled for May 2026.
