Marvel fans are surprised by a movie that is set to replace a cancelled MCU production, and it’s probably not what you’d expect.
Despite having its fair share of ups and downs in the last few years, there’s no denying that Disney and Marvel Studios know how to make a big splash on the silver screen.
The MCU has struggled somewhat following the epic Avengers: Endgame in 2019 in Phase Three. That being said, any batch of movies following that movie had an extremely tough act to follow.
To be fair, MCU Phase Four did have the likes of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, as well as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, it did also feature the Eternals and Thor: Love and Thunder, so there is that.

MCU Phase Five picked it up a little with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Thunderbolts* and Deadpool & Wolverine, but it also included what is arguably the worst Marvel movie to date, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.Thankfully, MCU Phase Six was off to a fantastic start with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which was released in July this year. Then we have Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars to look forward to.
Yet, we were supposed to get at least one more Marvel movie in Phase Six, but this currently unknown production was recently unceremoniously cancelled.
That being said, Disney has found its MCU Phase Six replacement, and it might surprise you to know that it’s neither a Marvel movie nor a traditional Disney animation; it is, in fact, the sequel to 2007’s The Simpsons Movie.
“The untitled Marvel movie scheduled for July 23, 2027, has been removed from the schedule (and replaced with a Simpsons movie)”, wrote Caciulacdlac, sharing an article from Variety.

“Joke's on you. The Marvel movie hasn't been removed at all. The Simpsons are now part of the MCU,” declared rquinain.
“See ya, Shang Chi 2,” said dimesniffer, suggesting that the cancelled MCU movie could be Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
“Finally, the real multiverse,” joked GranolaCola.
“Spider-Pig will return,” declared silver_moon134. That’s a good point. Does the fact that Disney owns The Simpsons make Spider-Pig part of the MCU? I think it does.

At the time of writing, The Simpsons Movie 2 has a release date of 23 July 2027, landing in the middle of the MCU Phase Six, assuming it suffers no delay.
