The Elder Scrolls 6 announcement has left gamers 'kind of angry'

Elder Scrolls fans are appalled by the long wait for The Elder Scrolls VI, believing Bethesda shouldn’t have announced the game so early.

The next game in Bethesda’s release schedule is none other than The Elder Scrolls VI, a game announced about five years ago and is still no closer to being released.

You can see that announcement for yourself below.

You see, Bethesda threw a curveball by announcing The Elder Scrolls VI, then announcing its brand-new IP Starfield and releasing that game first. There’s even debate that Starfield’s disappointing launch was due to the Elder Scrolls VI announcement stealing its thunder.

Now the next entry in The Elder Scrolls series is in full-development, but fans are still salty that it was revealed so early, an issue that’s actually affecting the whole of the gaming industry, not just Bethesda’s products.

Reddit user Sheogorath put it bluntly in a recent post, saying, “I’m honestly kind of angry that it's taking over a decade for the next Elder Scrolls.”

They went on to explain that they understood the hardships of making video games, after all, Rockstar Games has only just revealed the trailer for GTA VI, another game that’s taken years and years to develop.

Sheogorath’s main gripe is that early announcements that are intended to hype up fans for the release are actually having the opposite effect, instead making fans lose interest until the game releases to a resounding “meh”.

It’s certainly an issue - and what's even worse is that some fans are concerned The Elder Scrolls VI will be another disappointment on release. Fallout 76 and Starfield both released to a poor reception from fans, with Fallout 76 being a broken-mess and Starfield not being the innovative sci-fi adventure fans were expecting.

Only time will tell if The Elder Scrolls VI will live up to the hype, though at least Bethesda will be operating in its familiar mediaeval setting rather than experimenting with a brand-new IP.
