Bethesda fans are dreading the release of The Elder Scrolls VI after the monumental disappointment of Starfield.

What should have been one of Bethesda’s best RPGs to date quickly turned sour, when it disappointed the majority of its player base by simply being a Fallout game in space.

While building your own starship and zooming around the galaxy was cool at first, the overall experience was crushingly disappointing as most planets are completely empty, only serving as places to gather materials or construct a base.

Bethesda has been on the defensive ever since, even replying to negative reviews of the game with reasons why the game is actually great and worth people’s time and money.

The next release planned with the developer is The Elder Scrolls VI, a game announced before Starfield, but only recently entered active development. As the next Elder Scrolls game since the critically acclaimed The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, fans have high hopes for the next entry in the series, though are concerned it’ll be another disaster like Starfield.

While fans on the Elder Scrolls subreddits are posting non-stop with everything the Elder Scrolls VI needs to be a success, some fans are concerned it’ll be another experiment gone wrong.

In a post by the user EvenAH27, Bethesda’s recent shortcomings were blamed on the ideas being brand-new to the developer. Fallout 76 was the first multiplayer Fallout game, and Starfield was a brand-new IP in a setting no game had gone to before.

They followed this up asking “Is Elder Scrolls 6 safe from this trend of negativity due to the sheer familiarity and safeness of the IP?”

Some fans think not, as one simply said: “TES 6 is definitely not safe from this bad trend going at Bethesda.”

Another added Xbox needs to step in and help shape the next game in order to move Bethesda’s “design ethos,” which is “something that hasn’t progressed much since 2011.”

Finally one said: “Some of y’all just enjoy eating the slop Bethesda has been feeding us lately. Don’t y’all want a game that doesn’t divide the community and is passion-filled?”

The release date for The Elder Scrolls VI is currently unknown, as the game isn’t expected to be released for another few years.
