The Fallout show on Prime Video has done absolute wonders for the franchise as a whole, bringing in a whole raft of new fans who never played the games, and rewarding those who stuck with the IP, despite no new single-player releases in over a decade.
Given the fact that Fallout 5 is still likely years away, given the development of The Elder Scrolls VI taking priority for the time being, talk understandably quickly turned to the potential of a remaster or remake of existing games.
Oblivion Remastered was certainly a success for Bethesda Game Studios, so it would be no surprise to see them take a similar approach, shadow dropping a juicy fresh version of Fallout 3, New Vegas or both.
Though the developer has remained predictably tight-lipped on the matter, evidence has begun to pile up that the remasters could be real

Here's everything we know so far about the Fallout remasters and what it could all mean.
Steam Glitches Send Fans Over the Edge, But It's Not All Good News

Excitement really started to ramp up after players reported two glitches on Steam that they felt pointed towards the games dropping in the near future.

The first was a situation where those playing the original versions of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas were unable to review the original versions of the game, instead being greeted with a message which read, "you must wait until this product has been release before writing a review for it."
Unfortunately, there is a dampener on that one, as it turns out it's a genuine coincidence, with that error also popping up on some unrelated games across the Steam storefront.
Outside of that, though, Steam does currently claim there are twelve games in its Fallout collection, though only ten are listed once you click through. This is yet to be explained adequately, and it could actually be our first genuine piece of evidence pointing towards an upcoming release.
TV Show Countdown Adds Fuel to the Fire

Over on the official website for the Fallout show on Prime Video, a countdown has appeared which appears to run out at the exact same time as the final episode of the series is scheduled to do so already.
Whilst we don't have any evidence that this means an announcement or release is coming at the same time that the show finishes, we also don't really have any evidence to the contrary.
It could be confirmation of Season 3, or something really tangential we haven't thought of yet, but it's another solid potential link that we can't forget about until we know what it is.
Microsoft Trial Points to Plans for Fallout 3 Remake

During the case between Microsoft and the FTC in the United States, the company had to share a significant number of documents, many of which detailed future moves for the studio's they own.
Those included documents that seemingly confirmed both the Oblivion remaster and an equivalent project from Fallout 3. This is arguably the most compelling piece of evidence yet, given that it comes from Bethesda's parent company themselves.
With all of that currently going for it, the noise around these potential remasters isn't going to go away any time soon. If we had to bet on it, we'd say Fallout 3 is a lot more likely, but we're keeping everything crossed for both.
