Stardew Valley has been one of the most consistent games of the 21st century, rolling out a ton of improvements and updates over the years that really have turned it into a game that the community truly appreciates, with a relatively unblemished record.

The main solo developer behind the game, ConcernedApe, has now largely moved on to his next project in the Haunted Chocolatier, with a small team at The Secret Police Ltd continuing to work on Stardew Valley's long-awaited 1.7 update, with that likely serving as the last stage in the game's active development.

Fortunately, the future of the game will mostly be in the hands of the dedicated modding community after that, and fortunately they are very good at what they do, generally speaking.

Speaking of, a new mod has just been released that does some quite revolutionary things with the game's movement, and it's worth downloading if you've ever been frustrated by the base game.

Movement Overhaul is a Stardew Valley Must-Download

Over on Nexus Mods, a new download simply entitled Movement Overhaul has been uploaded and, as the title might suggest, it does some pretty drastic things to the movement systems in the game.

In the developer's own words: "Movement will never be the same!

"This mod overhauls movement, letting you JUMP over obstacles, SPRINT across the farm, SIT on the ground, WHISTLE, & unleash powerful DASH & JUMP ATTACKS in combat!

"Many more features and config options too! Compatible with multiplayer!"

It really is difficult to overstate just how different this will be to play from the standard experience in Stardew Valley.

The jump function alone will regularly change how you traverse the world, with the player able to hold down the action key to increase the height and arc of your jump.

The mod also adds three distinct sprint mode activations (double-tap, hold and toggle), with a full stamina system as well as sprinting for your horse.

That sprint function can be used in conjunction with combat controls to create some pretty cool new interactions for your character.

Sprinting into a fight and hitting attack will now see your character lunge, allowing you to get the jump on your foe. The area of effect and animation for that type of attack is also dependent on what type of weapon you're using.

There's far too much to the mod for us to describe everything here, but it's definitely worth checking for yourself if you're looking to make your next Stardew Valley game that bit more dynamic.
