Stardew Valley Update 1.7 News Is What We Wanted To Hear

ConcernedApe returns with good news

Stardew Valley has been one of the most remarkably consistent games on any platform, as it's original solo developer, ConcernedApe, continues to push out updates that add meaningful enjoyment to the overall experience.

The 1.6 update is the latest version of the game to release, dropping back in March 2024 for PC and November 2024 for consoles, bringing with it a new farm, mastery system and events, in what many thought could be the game's final major content release.

Much of that trepidation came from the development of Haunted Chocolatier, a new game currently being worked on by Stardew Valley's creator ConcernedApe (real name Eric Barone. The man himself was quick to put that to bed, confirming that he would be dropping one more update, though when and what exactly it would look like remain a mystery.

Since then, things have been fairly quiet, but Barone has now taken to Twitter/X to share an update, and it should come as good news to fans who favour playing his game on console.

In response to a fan asking about the time between the PC update and console update (owing to the large gap between 1.6 releases), Barone had the following to share, "I will do my best to minimise the delay between the two so as not to have the same problem as last update."

Now, that obviously doesn't narrow down exactly when we'll get to play either, but it's good news that console gamers won't be left out in the cold for too long.

Responses to that revelation were suitably pleased, though many urged him to take as long as he needs to ensure that the quality of Stardew Valley updates is maintained.

"It's okay, take your time, we'd rather get it later on if that means getting a better result instead of getting it rushed and unstable and getting yourself more stressed out. We can wait," one said.

"Good to be excited though. I, personally, have gotten to the point I tune out games I like and their development so that updates are a nice surprise," another added.

Whatever does happen with the 1.7 update, the track record for the developer is tough to criticise.

If he also manages to hit the same level with Haunted Chocolatier, then we all should have a great couple of years to look forward to, regardless of the platform we play these cosy gems on.
