A new Stardew Valley free download has made a major fix to one of the game’s biggest frustrations.
Stardew Valley has been carefully added to over the years with a fresh pipeline of content, but fans have taken it upon themselves to make some much-needed tweaks where needed.
Some mods for Stardew Valley make dramatic changes to the way the game behaves, from adding brand new NPCs and items, to configuring the very foundation of the game itself.
One particular frustration that modders have addressed before is the save system, where Stardew Valley only saves at the start of each morning.

Anything you do between waking up in the morning and going to sleep at night isn’t saved, which can be a nuisance as you need to play through an entire day to save your game.
Multi Save Checkpoint is a mod which should help you with that, where you can create a daytime checkpoint with one hotkey.
However, unlike similar quicksave mods, it doesn’t let you quicksave and quickload from anywhere in the game. Instead, it uses Stardew Valley’s normal save flow first, then creates a backup checkpoint.
Therefore, reloading a save starts from 6:00 AM, but has the added benefit of your saved progress being kept intact.

“A lot of quicksave-style mods try to restore the exact same position and exact same moment you saved in,” writes modder NoobSama101 on why they decided to create the mod. “That can be more invasive and more likely to conflict with game state, map state, events, NPC schedules, or other mods.”
It’s a good one for those who want a more forgiving save system, but also do not want the game to feel a bit easier by being able to save scum your way throughout each day.
You can download Multi Save Checkpoint by grabbing it from the Stardew Valley page on Nexus Mods.
If you’re a fan of modding your Stardew Valley save files, we also have a few other mods to recommend.
The All-in-One Friendship mod, for example, allows you to tweak certain parameters with regards to how your friendships build and decay. It’s a fun mod if you’re trying to change how these relationships are formed in-game.
Meanwhile, we’ve recently covered the Pet Quests mod which introduces a bunch of new activities to do with your feline and canine companions, as well as the expansion to add some more beach areas which’ll turn your Pelican Town into a tropical paradise.
