Stardew Valley players can now channel their inner detective with a brand new mod which adds mystery solving to the game.
If you're up for a little detective work, the new Valley Mysteries mod for Stardew Valley is one worth picking up.
In it, you'll turn into Pelican Town's own Nancy Drew with a series of mysteries to solve within the valley.
Now, you're not going to be solving any murders or theft, or anything like that. These are much smaller crimes, such as someone painting a mustache on Pierre's sign or leaving Marnie's gate open.

Nonetheless, these mysteries are small whodunits, where you need to question villagers for their whereabouts, check it against their alibis, and find key evidence.
Once the crime has been committed, Lewis will task you with finding out who did the deed. You'll question the villagers, find clues, all eventually leading to you confronting the culprit to decide what happens to them.

Follow in the footsteps of Jessica Fletcher or Hercule Poirot
"It might go like this. You open the mailbox to a letter from Lewis: last night someone painted a big curly mustache on the sign outside Pierre's shop, and Pierre is fuming. Three villagers had a reason. Shane says he was at the Saloon all evening. Abigail says she was home. Haley says she was at the beach," the mod's blurb says.
"You ask around. Caroline backs up Abigail. Emily, who was working the Saloon that night, frowns: Shane never came in. The next morning Pierre writes that he found something odd under the sign, and it's a slice of pizza. You write it down in your casebook: it was Shane, he said he was at the Saloon, but Emily was there and never saw him, and he loves pizza. Then you find him outside his door and put it to him.
"He owns up. Now it's your call: tell Lewis and let the town know, or keep it between the two of you and help him make it right with Pierre."
At 8PM each evening, you'll be notified where every villager is actually located. The next morning, a case is built from that where you discover the incident, the main suspects, and you'll have to cross-check their alibis with where they say they were.

The mod comes with its own notebook feature where you can fill in these details for yourself, as well as track information you're yet to receive. So if you suspect the culprit was Marnie, you can fill in the notebook with her name, her alibi, and any other evidence that points to her having committed the crime in question.
After all of this, it becomes time to decide whether you tell Lewis or not. If you do, the town is grateful for your work, but your relationship with the character in question in damaged. If you keep it to yourself, the culprit is grateful and will make up with the victim in private.
